Veterinary Services for Dogs

The foundation of our practice begins with preventative care for your family pets. That is why regular pet wellness exams are so important. With routine physical exams, our vet team can ensure that your dog is happy and healthy while screening for early warning signs of more serious health conditions.

Comprehensive and compassionate veterinarian care for your dogs should begin at an early age and continue well into their senior years. While each pet is different, we recommend keeping up with a loose timeline for regular vet treatment:

3-Week Check Up

Your puppy should be seen by our vet as early as 3 weeks old. With this exam, we will test for intestinal parasites, talk about future dog vaccinations and give some general care tips.

6 to 8 Weeks

This is the time where we usually begin dog vaccinations. We will create a vaccination schedule that works for your dog’s lifestyle and health needs to help prevent illness and disease.

12 Weeks

By 12 weeks old, your puppy should be tested for parasites and we’ll schedule a rabies vaccination as well. By 16 weeks they should receive their final set of shots. Additionally, we will discuss your spay and neuter options and schedule a time to complete the process.

Annual Visits

Once your dog has been given a clean bill of health at 4 months old, we recommend that you schedule annual pet exams visits with our Hayward vet. During their annual appointment, we will complete a physical exam, dental check, parasite test and more.

In addition to their annual check-ups, you should give us a call if you notice any of the following:

  • Your puppy is not gaining weight.
  • Your dog is lethargic or losing/gaining a lot of weight.
  • Your dog is showing signs of prolonged discomfort.
  • You notice behavioral changes.
  • There are general signs that your dog is unhealthy. For example, their coat has lost its luster or their eyes are not as bright.
